“Our humanity is bound up in one another, and any tear in the fabric of connection between us must be repaired for us all to be made whole. This interconnectedness is the very root of who we are.” -- Desmond Tutu

About

I invite you to reach out and step beyond simply talking about problems

Hello and welcome. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a collaborative systems focused therapist with many years of experience working with couples and adult relationships (that's a fancy way of saying I work with individuals, couples and adult family members in a non-judgmental way). Working together with clients I create an atmosphere of open and honest communication where you are able to cultivate a sense of self, enhance relational capacity, and foster the confidence needed to manage the complexities of partners, family, and peer relationships. I am a nero-divergent affirming, sex positive therapist who welcomes folks in any type of relationship structure or dynamic. THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW One of the most important things you would want to know about me is that I have specialized training in and work predominantly with couples and relationships. I integrate strategies from Bader & Pearson's Developmental Model of Couples Therapy, Sue Johnsons Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman Therapy, Narrative and Collaborative Therapies into my work with clients. I assist clients in regulating the mind-body connection by utilizing Emotional Freedom Tapping, Body-Up Co-Regulation and Mindfulness. I also pull from my background as a professional rowing coach. I received my degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Antioch University of New England and I am currently licensed in both Massachusetts and South Carolina. A BIT ABOUT THE SERVICES I OFFER COUPLES THERAPY / RELATIONSHP COACHING If the relationship you had when “falling in love” with your partner begins to crack and become challenging, it can be a sign that your adult relationship is trying to change and grow. Experiencing and exploring this shift is a challenging endeavor filled with patterns of frustration, disconnection, and hurt. Balancing individual and relational needs, I aid clients in developing a framework of open and honest communication, helping strengthen connection to self and others.  NEURO-DIVERGENT AFFIRMING COUPLES THERAPY I specialize in working with ADHD & nero-divergency in relationships. Couples work focuses on understanding the unique dynamics each person adds to the relationship, and helps couples to navigate clear and compassionate communication. ADHD in Relationship Monthly Group This group recognizing the impact of ADHD in a relationship is not confined to the individual alone and is open to both individuals and couples currently in neurodivergent adult relationships. Our focus is on building connections through the exploration of each person’s unique differences, exploring the unique challenges ADHD relationships face in a world and systems set up to enable the more neurotypical brains. Each weeks special topic is designed to build connections around the distinct differences each person brings to the relationship along with offering peer support and community. INDIVIDUAL THERAPY Individual focuses on the connection between the external world and our internal experiences. I work to provide a welcoming space for individuals to explore, recognize, and actualize their genuine self. AFFAIR RECOVERY / RELATIONSHIP CRISIS When an affair, infidelity or long term dishonesty is revealed, it sends a relationship into a crisis. I work with couples to stabilize their system, build individual confidence, and strengthen mutual honesty. Work is focused on developing the skills required to recognize and respond to deep hurts and resentments so partners can consider walking into a future together. While reconciliation might not be the result, when both partners are able to lean into empathy and compassion the healing process of an affair or infidelity can often lead to clients feeling safer and more emotionally connected with themselves and each other. RELATIONSHIP CROSSROADS In relationships where at least one partner is struggling with ambivalence, couples can get stuck, wondering if they should move towards separation/divorce or engage in couples therapy/coaching focused on restoring the relationship. I offer a short-term approach designed to help couples decide whether to end their relationship or turn in and seriously work on it. These sessions focus mainly on choosing a direction to head as opposed to therapy/coaching which is focused on change. COUPLES RETREATS (online or in-person) Couple's retreats present a unique opportunity for people to dig deep into the cycle of conflict that has kept them stuck. Work is focused on identifying and practicing strategic steps to transform stuck or hurting relationships. Retreats are appropriate for couples who are either 1. experiencing a relationship crisis, such as a recent affair, or 2. couples who are ready to do some focused work to make a big change in themselves and the relationship. Retreats can be 4 hours, 7.5 hours or a full weekend and can take place online or at your home/vacation rental in the historic city of Charleston, SC (and surrounding towns). The city offers a variety of galleries, restaurants and cultural events to engage in. A list of activities and lodging can be provided and are not included in the cost of services. Contact Erin for more information and current availability. FEES AND PAYMENTS I do not bill insurance directly, however, I do provide the necessary paperwork for insurance reimbursement. Check with your insurance provider for information on your out-of-network reimbursement rates and policies. Pricing for services can be found below. A sliding scale is available for clients in need.
